Course objectives
Specific objectives: The main objectives of the course are to provide practical information and updated evidence in the clinical application of both invasive (e.g., deep brain stimulation) and non-invasive brain stimulation (e.g., TMS and tDCS) for the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system.
- Oggetto:
Results of learning outcomes
Students will learn physical and biological basis of deep brain stimulation, TMS and tDCS; their main clinical application in neurological diseases; patients’ selection criteria, expected outcomes, and main adverse events related to the use of deep brain stimulation and TMS and tDCS for each neurological disease; last scientific evidence upgrading the use of brain stimulation in neurology; the use of quantitative MRI techniques to plan and monitor neurophysiological interventions.

Prof. L. Lopiano, Prof. M. Bozzali, Prof. G. Koch, Prof. M. Rizzone, Dott. C.A. Artusi, Dott. A. Benussi, Prof. L. Avanzino.
Dott. C.A. Artusi, as a senior PhD student, Dr. Artusi will play an active role in planning and running the practical sessions of the course. He will present and discuss with participants a selection of clinical cases to illustrate the current application of guidelines and methodologies alongside common practical issues that the clinician faces when planning a DBS intervention. Cases will be selected from a large dataset that reflects the extensive experience in DBS achieved by the Neurology Unit 2, University of Turin.
The course will take place in both days (17th March and 7th April 2022) at the Department of Neuroscience, Via Cherasco 15 (first floor; "Aula Magna")- Enroll
