Course objectives
The course will provide students with the main behavioral, computational, and neural fundamentals of bodily self-consciousness in humans and non-humans (hints). Indeed, recent multidisciplinary approaches (e.g., neurology, artificial intelligence, developmental neuroscience, comparative psychology, anthropology) triggered new avenues to the investigation of such a topic. This, allowed us to answer questions such as “Which are the neurophysiological signatures of the bodily self?; Which are the neurocomputational models that best explain bodily self?; What is the evolutionary meaning of an embodied sense of self?
